I rarely give a five star rating but this book merits every one of them. The story is a love story, a mystery and a thriller. All of the elements will keep the reader suspended and anxiously waiting for what is happening next. The descriptions in this book are fantastic as the words paint pictures and emotions. You Saw Too Much Lori Turner Book 1 edition by Adam Nicholls Jay Nadal Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
You Saw Too Much is the tale of a young woman who loses eberything she holds dear in one night because of the purposeful act of one man! Sam was a journalist who had investigated, with the aid of another reporter, the illegal activities of a booming business in the town in which he and his wife, Lori, lived. Their car was attacked by a black Dodge truck, resulting in a terrible roll-over accident which killed Sam and caused Lori to lose their unborn child. Lori's dispair is over worked and etched into the reader's mind, ad nauseum. One feels bad for her loss, but it is pushed at the reader too much. She finally begins to investigate the local company whose goon caused her husband's death. It is at this part that the story gains the stars it earned. I may skip the subsequent novels because I found too much milling in self pity. The circumstances are just too deep in melodrama to keep my interest in following the character developed here!
This book had me within its grips from the word go. Not having read any book by these authors, I was totally engrossed in it and read it in one sitting!!
The protagonist, Lori Turner loses both her husband and her baby in one go in a horrific crash that she only vaguely remembers. From her nightmares that haunt her, she instinctively knows that there's much more to the crash than what appears on the surface. She doggedly perseveres after the truth in spite of all odds and attempts to make her appear totally crazy. Even her sister who has come to offer her support during the tragedy that befell Lori thinks her sister has gone off the deep end.
The grit, the courage and the determination that Lori summons from within herself to get to the bottom of her husband's death and dealing with drug cartels and evil, violent men in the process of unearthing the evidence to corroborate her intuition forms the content of this excellent book. She is ably supported by Nate Hill , a journalist in her endeavors.
The trials, tribulations, the torture she is subjected to at the hands of the mob and the obstacles that rise up in her path every step of the way create an anxiety and impatience in the reader that makes the reader hold on to the book until it is finished.
A remarkable book that was a great pleasure to read.
I found this book just woffled on and on. I had to skip through the middle section and go to the end otherwise I probably wouldn't have finished it. I can't believe so many people gave it 5 stars.
This was my first experience with this author and I am not impressed. The book seemed to drag on and it was obvious who the bad guy was going to be.
Another great book by Adam Nichols. This is his first coauthored book with Jay Nadal, and the two different writing styles meshed seamlessly. For those who are familiar with Adam Nicholls writing style, you know this book is a completely different style of writing for him, but the story is just as gripping. I could not tell which author wrote each chapter. My one suggestion is to not try and read this until the kids and grands are in bed you might miss something. Don't blink!
Lori and Sam were on their way to have a picnic (at which Lori was going to share some exciting news with Sam) when tragedy struck. Lori knows that the car wreck that took her husband's life was not an accident. She does not know how she knows it, but she just does. She wants Police Chief Joe Reynolds to find out what really happened that day, what it is that she cannot remember...
When Lori leaves the hospital, she goes home and hides from the town. Well-meaning people call and stop by, but she does not answer the telephone or the door. When she does go out, she returns home only to find someone has been in her house. She gets strange phone calls from an anonymous number and someone is following her. "Her counselor says she's suffering PTSD, and her sister says she's paranoid." Nancy (her sister) insists on staying at a local motel to be there for her and help her...
This was an excellent nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller and one of the best that I have read lately! The plot was well thought out and well presented. I was drawn into Lori's journey to try to find the answers and to recover her lost memories. I admired her determination to solve the mystery of what really happened, while my heart broke over all that she lost. There were plenty of twists and turns to entertain. The suspense kept me turning the pages far into the night.
I would be interested in reading more books by Mr. Nicholls and Mr. Nadal. I would highly recommend YOU SAW TOO MUCH to anyone who enjoys a good "is-this-real-or-am-I-crazy?" thriller!
While I am usually a fan of books about car accidents and amnesia, I am so sorry I spent the time and money on this book. You Saw Too Much was repetitive and lacking in content and character development. It seems like the author(s) took every cliche from every bad suspense novel and compiled them into this one book. The attempt to show gaslighting of the main character could have been better developed but never was. The scenes were so discordant in the way they swayed from the main character's fear to supposed bravery; from naivete to sudden insight.
I rarely give a five star rating but this book merits every one of them. The story is a love story, a mystery and a thriller. All of the elements will keep the reader suspended and anxiously waiting for what is happening next. The descriptions in this book are fantastic as the words paint pictures and emotions. A book I enjoyed from beginning to the end!
